Sunnyside Croft Touring Site is located in ‘The Outdoor Capital of the UK’, an area with a spectacular natural environment offering an abundance of activities and a great range of places to explore.

Here is a taste of what this fantastic area has to offer . . . .

Explore

  • A coastline of white sandy beaches await you with stunning views of the Small isles and Skye, one of which is accessible from Sunnyside.
  • Loch Morar – the deepest fresh water Loch in Europe and boasting its very own monster!
  • The Small Isles of Muck, Eigg, Rum and Canna.  Each island offers something different – Sail with Caledonian MacBrayne from Mallaig or from Arisaig Marine

Visit

  • The remotest pub in Mainland Britain – The Old Forge at Inverie, Knoydart can only be reached by foot or by boat.  Sea Bridge Knoydart and MV Western Isles  both provide ferry services.
  • The most Westerly point in Britain – Ardnamurchan Lighthouse
  • The Land, Sea and Island Centre in Arisaig.  The centre holds an exhibition that celebrates the social and natural history of the area old and new.  Sunnyside even gets a mention in a piece of script!

History and Culture

  • Glenfinnan Monument, Museum and viaduct – In the most dramatic setting, it’s well worth a visit here and you may see the ‘Harry Potter’ Steam Train crossing the viaduct!
  • West Highland Museum, Fort William – Tells the history of the region and its history
  • Highland Games – Every year we have 3 in our area!  Read more on our What’s on page
