Being Green

At Sunnyside we are delighted to be able to share our lovely site with nature and are proud of “being a green” site, which has been recognised by receiving a David Bellamy Gold Conservation Award since joining the scheme in 2013.

Here are some of the “green” things we do at Sunnyside:

  • Use low energy lighting throughout the interior of our site building which operate on a PIR(motion sensitive) system, ensuring lights only come on when required.
  • Sunnyside site shop produce is mostly local, Scottish, Organic and/or Fair Trade.
  • Use eco-friendly products for cleaning
  • Recycle glass, paper, cardboard, most plastics, aluminium and steel cans
  • Provide underfloor heating throughout the site building with most of the heat provided by exhaust air heat pumps
  • Give nature a home by having set aside areas solely for flora and fauna, creating “beastie heaps” using windfall branches
  • Promote our local services
